Kelly Linton for Centre Wellington Mayor

Putting YOU First

Bold leadership that gets Township spending under control, creates local jobs, gives you straight answers, and makes our community more livable, affordable, and focused on local priorities.

Priorities

I’ll lead a Council that will get day-to-day spending under control and deliver real value for money. In the last four years, the Township has added 50 full-time staff—and plans to add 16 more in the next two years! (For comparison, in my first 4 years as mayor, we added 9 full-time staff total.)

This Town belongs to the people who live here. I’ll stand up for Centre Wellington taxpayers, defend our small-town way of life, and make sure growth and tourism are managed responsibly so our community is livable, affordable, and focused on local priorities.

We’ll kick-start stalled economic development and bring in investment that creates local work – so families can earn a living close to home and the Township becomes less dependent on residential property taxes.

You deserve straight answers and regular updates. I’ll keep residents and businesses informed with weekly radio updates, monthly newspaper columns, active social media, seasonal town halls, and regular community sessions—so you always know what’s happening and you’re always heard. That should be a mayor’s #1 job.

Qualifications

As Centre Wellington Mayor between 2014-2022, I did what is increasingly rare in politics – I did what I promised to do. I led a Council laser focused on investing your hard-earned tax dollars on what matters most to you – rebuilding our roads, bridges, and community spaces. Now, after four years of providing strategic consulting services to other municipalities across Ontario, I really want to get back to serving my own community! Here are some of my leadership qualifications:

Proven Leadership:
  • Led a Centre Wellington Council that:
    • Built/rebuilt 21 bridges in 8 years (compared to 5 the previous 8 years);
    • Established Centre Wellington’s first Township-owned 56-acre business park in North Fergus. (four years later, this site remains empty)
    • Reduced development fees to companies bringing local jobs and investment.
    • Completed major infrastructure and beautification projects in our downtown areas.
    • Kept annual operating budget increases at, or below, the rate of inflation.
  • Ramped up community engagement to a new level – seasonal town halls, monthly newspaper updates, weekly radio updates, ongoing social media … and personally responding to all calls and emails. Connecting with you was my #1 priority.
Government Change Specialist:
  • Founded Linton Consulting – a business consulting company – in 2004 assisting government agencies across Canada (from Yukon to Nunavut to Alberta and across Ontario) to become more effective, efficient, and citizen-focused.
  • Since 2023 alone, I have completed 25 strategic projects – primarily with small-medium-sized Ontario towns.
  • Years experiencing the best (and worst) practices in municipal government.
  • I enjoy writing about the things I discover, offering insights as a catalyst for positive change, effective leadership, and innovation. Check out my articles here.

Here are some ways that you can help the Linton for Mayor campaign …

Running a mayoral campaign costs a lot of money! I am grateful for any amount you can contribute. You’ll receive an invoice at the end of the campaign. Email me and I’ll give you the particulars. (Maximum donation amount is $1,200 per person.)

Order your very own gorgeous Linton for Mayor lawn sign. Email your address, and we’ll get you a sign in September. (Township sign bylaw does not permit political signs earlier than that.)

We’ll be running a positive and energetic campaign that includes lots of door-to-door visits. I’d love to have you join me – and get in your steps as a side benefit :)! If you’d rather volunteer your time doing other things, I promise my team find you something to do!

I’d love to get a bunch of endorsement quotes from folks who had the opportunity to get to know me and/or work with me over the past decade+. It would be nice to be able to share these endorsements on social media and in our upcoming ads.

Together, let’s build a team to get us back on track to unlocking the potential of our amazing community.
